Busy Beats Music is growing! We are seeking an energetic part-time Early Childhood Music Educator to lead joyful music and movement classes at partner schools throughout the Houston area.

We are part educators and part entertainers—we call ourselves edu-tainers!

Busy Beats provides the curriculum, lesson plans, instruments, props, training and ongoing teaching support. We are building our educator team for morning school-sponsored programs, afternoon Music Clubs and substitute opportunities.

ABOUT BUSY BEATS MUSIC

Busy Beats Music is a music and movement community for young children. We bring hands-on music learning into preschools, childcare centers, private schools and elementary enrichment programs.

Our classes incorporate singing, creative movement, instruments, rhythm, stories and developmentally appropriate musical concepts. We want children to experience the joy of music while developing skills they can carry into the classroom and everyday life.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Busy Beats educators primarily teach children from infancy through age six. The ideal candidate has a genuine delight in helping children learn and thrive, a playful approach to teaching and a desire for continued personal and professional growth.

Our edu-tainers know how to create a joyful experience while remaining prepared, organized and professional. We crawl on the floor, jump, dance, twirl, sing and stay actively engaged throughout each class!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and confidently lead provided Busy Beats and Kindermusik-based lesson plans.

• Teach developmentally appropriate music and movement classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and early-elementary students.

• Maintain lesson flow, pacing, transitions and group engagement.

• Establish classwide expectations and safe instrument procedures.

• Use positive, age-appropriate group redirection.

• Transport, set up, distribute, collect, clean and sanitize instruments and props.

• Begin and end classes on time.

• Communicate reliably with Busy Beats management.

• Warmly connect with children, families, classroom teachers and school administrators.

• Provide a high level of hospitality and treat our students, families and school partners like VIPs.

• Participate in required training, observations, coaching and occasional team meetings.

• Follow all Busy Beats child-safety, supervision and partner-school policies.

CLASSROOM PARTNERSHIP

The Busy Beats educator is responsible for leading the music curriculum, maintaining lesson flow and engaging the group.

Classroom teachers and school staff remain responsible for student supervision, required teacher-to-child ratios, individual behavior management and children’s personal, health, safety and support needs.

Our educators work collaboratively with school staff and communicate promptly when a child needs individual assistance or additional classroom support.

SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY

Broad Monday-through-Friday availability is required because Busy Beats serves multiple partner schools throughout the week. Programs may include:

• Morning school-sponsored classes, generally between 8:30 AM and noon

• Afternoon Music Clubs, generally between 2:30 and 5:00 PM

• Substitute, demonstration and occasional special-event opportunities

The educator will not necessarily work every weekday. Assignments will be based on program needs, the educator’s location and availability, and successful completion of training. Hours may grow as additional partner schools and Music Clubs are added.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

• Part-time

• At least three paid hours per week initially

• Opportunities to add assignments as programs grow

• $25 per hour

SERVICE AREA

Educators travel to assigned partner schools in Cypress, Northwest Houston, Katy, Spring Branch and surrounding areas. We consider each educator’s home location and reasonable travel distance when coordinating assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with young children in preschool, childcare, elementary education, music, dance, theater or a related setting

• Warm, playful and engaging teaching presence

• Comfortable singing and leading movement activities

• Musical training or early-childhood education experience preferred

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Dependable, punctual and able to manage responsibilities independently

• Willing to receive coaching and follow an established curriculum

• Able to manage teaching materials and transition efficiently between classes

• Able to sit on the floor, stand, bend, dance, jump and move actively

• Able to lift and transport approximately 20 pounds of teaching materials

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to assigned schools

• Fluent spoken English

• Able to pass required background checks and school-vendor screenings

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

Busy Beats provides structured onboarding, lesson plans, curriculum and teaching resources. Training may include:

• Busy Beats teaching standards and methods

• Child-safety and supervision boundaries

• Age-differentiated curriculum

• Instrument procedures, transitions and sanitation

• Classroom observation and shadow teaching

• Practice teaching and coaching

• Readiness evaluation before independent assignments

• Ongoing curriculum and classroom-management support
